Trumpeter-composer Spencer Brand is a doctorate student at Arizona State University where he holds a trumpet teaching assistantship. Mr. Brand completed a Masters of Music in Trumpet Performance and Composition at Arizona State and holds a BMus in Trumpet Performance with a Management Minor from the University of Minnesota. In addition to participating in university ensembles, he has performed with the Salt River Brass, Medalist Concert Band, the Central Lakes Symphony Orchestra and other community ensembles as principal trumpet/cornet. During the summer of 2018, Spencer Brand performed in the Czech Republic as a part of the Prague Summer Nights Festival Orchestra, playing in the Estates Theatre and Rudolfinum. Active as a composer, Mr. Brand has been commissioned to write music for various performers including the University of Minnesota Symphonic Band in celebration of the 125th Anniversary of Bands. His music is often inspired and explores Minnesota nature. Spencer Brand is an active member of the International Trumpet Guild and his teachers include David Hickman, David Baldwin, Robert Dorer, Ladislav Kozderka, and Albert Moore.
