The Episcopal Church recognizes two sacraments and five sacramental rites.
Additionally, though not a sacramental rite, the Burial of the Dead is an important Christian rite.
Discover how to plan a baptism, confirmation, wedding, or funeral below.
Holy Baptism at All Saints'
Baptism is the main pathway to membership at All Saints'. In it, we are named and claimed as children of God, who promises to be with us always. We believe this promise is irrevocable. Therefore, you can only be baptized once in the Episcopal Church, and we accept baptisms from most Christian communities — regardless of age, denomination, or the amount of water involved!
In a child's baptism, we celebrate God's unconditional love, present from the beginning. Parents and godparents commit to raising the child in the way of Christ, and the whole community pledges its support. For adults and youth, baptism is your opportunity to publicly commit to following Christ and participating in the church. The first step is to schedule a conversation by contacting Chesirae Valentine at cvalentine@allsaintsoncentral.org or by filling out this form.
Next available baptism dates are: June 8, 2025 and August 10, 2025
Confirmation at All Saints'
Confirmation is an ancient rite of passage in which the bishop of a diocese lays hands upon those who have been baptized at an earlier date to pray that God will strengthen their faith and empower them for service.
For those baptized as young children, this rite allows an opportunity to "confirm" the promises made on their behalf by parents and godparents.
For those baptized as adults, Confirmation is an opportunity to reaffirm the promises made at baptism and receive the laying on of hands, just as the first apostles did. By virtue of the Bishop's ministry, Confirmation connects us to the fellowship of the apostles and to the universal church across time and space. If you would like to learn more about our next confirmation opportunity, please contact Chesirae Valentine at cvalentine@allsaintsoncentral.org or fill out this form.
Weddings at All Saints'
Christian marriage is a joyful and public covenant in the presence of God. When you choose to be married in the Church, you are not choosing a location, but rather a community, and a way of life. This Church and the marriage services take seriously the question of how we express God’s love and Christ’s presence in our lives as individuals and as a couple
The wedding is the beginning of a new stage of loving each other and working out your common life. Commitment as a couple to the practice of religion is important, because it can support you and enrich your lives as you struggle with your own natural differences and the pressures that work against lasting marriages. Exploration and decision about a church home, and participation in the worship, education, and fellowship of your church, are an important first step in your married life. If you are not already a member of this congregation, since your wedding will be celebrated and blessed at All Saints’, we hope you will consider making this your church home. To learn more, please reach out to Chesirae Valentine at cvalentine@allsaintsoncentral.org or fill out this inquiry form.
Funerals at All Saints'
The Christian faith comforts us with the belief that not even death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Upon the death of a loved one please be in touch with one of the current All Saints’ clergy as soon as possible. The clergy are here to provide pastoral support and guidance in scheduling and planning the service of Christian Burial.
Over the years, many Episcopalians have preferred to have their loved ones buried near their church. The Close is in no way a conventional cemetery. It provides for the disposition of cremated remains in an attractively landscaped and fenced yard, which serves both as a protected resting place and as a quiet garden of meditation. Ashes are buried directly in the earth carrying forth the symbolism of the words of the Burial Office which says, “ashes to ashes, earth to earth, and dust to dust.” While specific burial places are not marked, bronze plaques may be placed in the designated area of the Close to serve as memorials.
Cost, by comparison with other places now available for burial, is very competitive. The charge for the burial of ashes is $1,500, which provides for the burial of the ashes, a standard bronze memorial plaque, and perpetual care of the garden.
Prepayment of the burial fee is advisable in that it helps both to reserve a place at the current price and to relieve family members of wondering if they have made the right decision as to the disposition of your earthly remains. Indeed, one of the most loving and concerned things that you can do now for those whom you love the most is to consult with one of the parish clergy concerning your wishes and desires at the time of your death. In so doing, you will relieve your loved ones of many difficult and painful decisions. Further information may be obtained by consulting the Church Office at 602-279-5539.
